2018 YEAR 7: ENROLMENT & OPEN DAY INFORMATION
2018 Year 7 Open Day – Wednesday 2nd August, 2017
There are two sessions you can choose from:
Morning: 9:15am – 12:30pm
Evening: 6:00pm – 7:30pm
Parents/Caregivers and students both attend the open day session, and it is open to any families preparing to enrol their child/ren in Year 7 in 2018 and wanting to know more about our school. You do not need to book to attend, but you do need to be available for the entire session.
The Open Day gives students a taste of what next year will bring, making sure the transition experience is a positive one.
2018 Year 7 In-Zone and Out-of-Zone Enrolment
You have automatic right of enrolment at Balmoral Intermediate if you live in our zone. Scroll down to see a list of the streets in the Balmoral Intermediate zone.
We currently accept a small number of out of zone students as space allows each year in Year 7. Out of Zone students will be selected by ballot, with the date for the ballot yet to be advised by the Ministry of Education.
In all other cases, and at all other year levels, students can only enrol at Balmoral School if they live within our home zone.
The process we follow to select Out-of-Zone students for available Year 7 spaces is determined by the Ministry of Education as follows:
|Category A||Siblings of current students|
|Category B||Siblings of past students|
|Category C||Child of a past student|
|Category D||Child of Board of Trustee member or employee|
|Category E||All other applicants|
Please note: Category C need to provide evidence at the time of submitting their enrolment application e.g. school report, class photo etc.
The ballot is conducted under the supervision of a member of the NZ Police and the selection process is a random draw of applicants names. The educational achievements of individual students are not taken into account by Balmoral school, so you do not need to send in any additional documentation with your child’s application.
