National Standards
The current government has released its National Standards in Reading, Writing and Mathemetics. In other countries where this has happened students have suffered. A concern expressed by many educators and academics is that these standards could lead to a narrowing of the curriculum. No longer would schools be seen to be developing a Rich Task model. Some educators have expressed a concern that it could be harmful for children aged 5 to be labelled a failure. It is important that parents are aware of these debates and we have added a few links to read articles from the web.
